If you’re among my loyal followers, you know that one of the areas in which I have coached clients as well as blogged and podcasted, is the importance of correct pronunciation. In my opinion, anything less is unprofessional, especially when it comes to saying a person’s name. It’s simply not worth offending an individual or risking your reputation.
Over the weekend I read that a Congresswoman had her last name publicly mispronounced. Instead of correctly emphasizing the second syllable, the third syllable was emphasized. This is a clear mispronunciation that can easily be avoided and should be. Yes, it requires effort but doesn’t all communication?
