Most of us know that communication can be digital.  This form of communication works well because it’s fast, efficient, and cost-effective.  Naturally, there are multiple options for digital communication including emails, text, and social media. So what’s the problem? Maybe nothing…but consider your strategies.   Here are five to get you started:

  1.  Know your audience:  That includes knowing how they like communication delivered as well as what to tell them.
  2. Choose simplicity: Keep your message short, easy to understand, and completely clear.
  3. Demographics matter: It’s essential that you fully know the demographics of your audience so you align with what is important to them.  For example, TikTok and Instagram are designed for younger people.
  4. Invest in active listening: Communication is most effective when you listen to what your audience tells you. Pay attention to that.
  5. Recognize the importance of engagement: Offer ways for your audience to have a voice and be involved with you.

You may look at these five strategies and think that they apply to being a presenter.  That’s because they do! It’s always about how you communicate and doing so strategically. Feel free to add to this list and keep a record of what works well. We’re always communicating and that means there’s room for improvement.
