If you acknowledge Valentine’s Day…then love is in the air.

For some of us the month of February prompts thoughts of love—what
about you? I hope you love life and what you do. My question is: do you
love public speaking? Actually, you don’t have to love public speaking to be
effective at it, which you will be when we work together. Best of all, you’ll
love the results!

Those words are one of the elevator pitches that I wrote and often use.  Most people I encounter absolutely don’t love public speaking and as a result they steer clear of it if they can. Here is the guidance offered by Rachel Lane (2022) that you may wish to consider.  She suggests:

  1.  Select a card that your partner would enjoy.
  2.  Be succinct.
  3. Write  a few drafts of what you plan to say.
  4. Give thought to your partner and what would appeal to that person.
  5. Put it all together.

As I read over these five ideas, I realized that they applied to effective communication, in general.  Anytime we communicate, it’s always about the other person. Take time to ensure you know the likes and dislikes of the other person.  That’s what you want to focus on.  It’s also important to sound like yourself.

If you follow this advice, you’ll be on the right track not just on February 14th but anytime you want to send a message. If you find  you have additional questions or comments, please feel free to let me know and I will offer my assistance.
